Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my 25th birthday! I started the tradition last year to have an ice cream cake for my birthday. After buying one last year, and paying an arm and a leg for a cake the size of a postage stamp, we decided to make our own. I told Travis what I wanted and he got right to it.
In case anyone wants to know-he started out by baking brownies. Once they finished baking he covered them with very soft mint chocolate ice cream and topped that with crushed oreos. He then put it in the freezer overnight to harden. It was the best cake (if you can even call it a cake) I have had!! I will definitely be having this every year!
I also received these delicious cupcakes from Kara! Don't they look right off a cover of a food magazine with the perfectly placed sprinkles? A girl can never have too many sweets, I always say! Thanks again Kara.

And thank you to everyone who sent me 'happy birthday' wishes. I really appreciate it! It really makes getting older a little easier when you know you are loved.

Happy Birthday Travis!

Today is Travis' 28th birthday. We celebrated by going out to dinner and I made, completely from scratch, a German Chocolate cake (his fav). I don't know if I'll ever go back to the box version of G.C.C. Thanks Trisha Yearwood for the recipe. Happy birthday! I love you!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Ours was long (in a good way) and busy. We spent it with my parents this year. We also had a great opportunity to drive to L.A. to see Travis' best friend get married. It was such a great wedding and we couldn't be more happy for him.

We were also working non-stop on a new project. I'm trying to make a shelf out of a railroad tie and it's proving to be harder than we thought. We didn't finish it, but it's almost done. Hopefully we can complete it the next time we drive down.

We also needed some railroad nails for the shelf and since there are some tracks practically behind our house we decided to start there.

Travis found most of the nails. Don't worry we didn't take any that were actually in the tracks. We just picked up the old ones that were half buried in the dirt on the side.

I just love this time of year to be able to spend time with family. And I'm a little sad that I have to take down all my Christmas decorations now that it's over.
