California Lovin

We started the flight to California off right! Mmm, Coke! Beau wasn't happy that nothing came out for him. Oh well, Mom was thirsty.

My family had been camping at the beach the week before we showed up and had one more night left. So we flew from Oregon to the beach and met them there. We didn't, however, camp with them that last night. My dad lovingly gave us one of his free room credits and we spent the night in a nice hotel. But my mom and dad did use it for showering and bathroom purposes so they got their use out of it too!

We did get a little taste of camping by having hamburgers and hot dogs cooked over the fire and, of course, s'mores! Beau enjoyed his first marshmallow!

 This is a picture of Beau feeling sand on his feet, for the first time he can remember. He loves sand!

Hearing an airplane. Since seeing them up close and personal Beau has become a little obsessed with pointing out any airplane he hears in the sky.

 Did I mention he loves sand? He loves eating sand, is probably more correct!

He liked the clam chowder and bread. Although, once he discovered ketchup, he liked dipping the bread in that instead. And not eating the bread, but just using that as a devise to get the ketchup from the plate to his mouth. He's the ultimate double dipper!!

We met up with some old high school friends. It's so fun to see how we have grown into the role of motherhood!

 ...But we still like to party!!

I love that when he first started wearing floaties, he couldn't bend his arms.

We played some wiffle ball. My older brother had an epic throwing of the bat and it ended up sixty feet away in the top of a tree. We had to get our pool skimmer to knock it down and after getting it lost in the tree a couple times we were finally able to play on.

Saying bye at the airport. It was fun, but it went by all too fast!

A Wedding in Oregon

We went to Oregon for a wedding of Travis' little bro. I'm so glad the wedding gave us an excuse to visit the great state of Oregon. I thought it was beautiful and I loved the weather! I could definitely call Oregon home. 

Beau was great on our plane rides. I'm sure glad I had Travis to help though because he is a lot of energy and we had about a million lay overs, not to mention we had been up since 4am! We spent the time by eating, taking pictures of funny faces, watching Sesame Street and sleeping.

They got married at the Portland temple and it was beautiful! Beau kept pushing his stroller around the grounds as we were waiting for the newly wed couple to make their appearance outside.

Then we moved to a country club for the luncheon and reception. So picturesque!

We had a day of sightseeing before we left so we met up with some more family there for the wedding and went on a scenic drive to the Columbia River Gorge.

Beau was a little obsessed with sticking his finger up his nose as evidenced by this picture.

 We had a lot of fun and are so glad that we got to experience a little of Oregon. We then hopped on a plane and flew to California for a week long visit with my family...

San Diego

We just got back from a great trip to San Diego. Travis had a work conference down there and we thought it would be fun to make a little vacay out of it.

Our first day started with Travis' best friend, Brad, and his wife picking us up for lunch. We wanted to try a pizza place that we saw on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. That show hasn't let us down yet. It was delicious!!

We spent the rest of Travis' lunch break by walking around an outdoor mall. Kirstie and I met two hotties while walking through one of the stores.

The next day we walked around our hotel and Seaport Village. This picture doesn't do it justice, but we saw the biggest yachts outside our hotel. I can only imagine what they cost.

We tried going to Hodad's for dinner the first night, but the line was out the door and down the street. We also saw a sign that said they were out of bacon! That's the whole reason why I wanted to eat there. We tried again the next night and got there earlier. We walked straight in and got a table and they had bacon a plenty! It was pretty good except their burgers were giant grease balls and I somehow spilled all over myself. The bacon "pattie" on my cheeseburger hit the spot though!

We visited Old Town, got some fudge samples (our husbands wouldn't let us buy any) and got scared to death by a man who we thought was a mannequin, but was real.

Saturday we saw some seals at La Jolla Shores and then headed over to Torrey Pines Gliderport to watch hang gliders do tricks.
Unfortunately, it wasn't very windy and we only saw two paragliders take off and they didn't do anything special. We then headed back to Brad's to watch BYU get their butts kicked by TCU.

On Sunday we went to Balboa Park to see the world's largest outdoor organ. They give free concerts every Sunday so we enjoyed a few songs and the nice weather.
