Happy Easter and more!

I hope everyone had a happy Easter. It is such a great time of year! We were in northern Virginia with Travis' family. We had lots of fun shopping, dying eggs and hiding/hunting eggs. We also were able to meet up with our friends the Mudricks who vacated Charlottesville last August. We met up at Cosi where we all got the flat bread pizza which I would definitely recommend. Here is part of my gift that I made for Amanda and the babe.

When we went up for spring break, at the beginnning of March, Travis and I went to the National Gallery of Art in D.C. They had lots of good stuff and I think Travis was just as interested as I was. The picture above is Trav's favorite piece of art at the museum.

Green Valley Book Fair

Saturday was opening day of the first Green Valley Book Fair of 2008. The book fair is open for two weeks and they have six a year. Jamie Ormsby and I have gone to the previous 3 together. This one though was by far the best! I got 10 books for 36 dollars! I got a few Jane Austin books for 2 bucks each and the hardcover Da Vinci Code book for 6! All of the books are brand new although some can be damaged. They also have different books every time so you never know what to expect. Going on opening day is like trying to go shopping on Black Friday; it's crowded, but you get the best selection.

FINISHED!!

Today I finally finished my quilt. It feels so good to be done. I've been working on this thing for a long time. I brought my sewing machine back from California over the summer. I figured with Thursdays and Fridays off I would have plenty of time to work on some projects. I bought most of the fabric in California and some once I got back here, but never really started working on it until Thanksgiving. My sewing machine was giving me so many problems that I had to use Hillory Dahle's until I could have my mother-in-law look at it. Turns out I may just have had the bobbin in backwards! Hey, I don't have my owners manual so how could I know! I worked some more on it around Christmas, but I wasn't sewing the pieces together evenly so I was getting really frustrated. Travis' mom asked if I was pinning the pieces together and I admitted that I wasn't. "Well there's your problem" she said! Ok, ok, so after that I was very diligent about pinning! It's definitely not perfect, but I'm glad that it's done. You may notice that it's a baby quilt for a girl, but don't worry there is no bun in the oven. I just didn't want to take on a quilt any larger. And now that I've done this one I doubt I will ever take on a quilt much larger!

The whole back is made with the white, raised dots called minky. It's super soft and velvety.

Pepé Le Pew

Pepé Le Pew made another visit yesterday. He spent a lot of time eating/digging in the grass behind our apartment. The last time he visited us he followed us from our car to our door and scratched the outside wanting us to let him in!
