Merry Christmas!

10 Months

Beau is almost 10 months.  I can't believe it!  He is my busy bug.  At his 9th month appointment he weighed in at 20 lbs 5 ozs (46%) and was 29.5 inches long (86%).  He's got 3 upper teeth that he likes to grind against his bottom.  Such an unpleasant sound!  I hope that stops soon.  He can stand all by himself, but doesn't seem very interested in taking any steps.  Which is fine by me for now.  He loves books and being read to.
And his newest quirk is he doesn't want to finish his bottles.  I've tried sippy cups and he isn't interested in those.  The only way I can get him to drink all of his bottle is if he is strapped in his car seat in the car.  Don't ask me why that works, but it does, and I've dragged him out to the car just so he will finish his bottle!  I'd love any suggestions!  PLEASE!

When his top teeth were about to come in he would constantly have his tongue up there feeling them.  Pretty cute, don't you think?

Ok, we'll read that one...again!

Our Halloween Month

Halloween, for us, took over the whole month of October!  We hosted a Halloween party, went to two other Halloween parties, a trunk-or-treat and hosted a hot chocolate/apple cider party after our neighborhood trick-or-treat on Saturday! Whew!

At our party we played games and enjoyed desserts.  We played mummy wrap, Bocce ball with small pumpkins, head on a platter relay race, and watched scary movie clips.  I should try posting the clips and see how many you can guess...

We dressed up as Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren.
I made Bakerella's yummy Cake Pops.
Here's the dessert spread.
Our fun group of friends!

At our church's Trunk-or-Treat.

I took Beau to a little pumpkin patch to take some fall pictures.  He wasn't too sure of these big, orange things, but I got some good shots.

On Halloween we went to a house that displays hundreds of carved pumpkins!  Here is Edward.

We'll definitely be going back next year.

Ok, I'll back track now and get caught up.

Happy Halloween!

We hope everyone has a happy Halloween!

I know, I know, I need to update.  I've got a lot to catch up on so I'll try and get to it.

8 months

I usually only post when we get Beau's stats from the Dr. but he has reached some milestones so I felt like I needed to do an update.

This is what I would see when I would walk into Beau's room in the morning or after a nap.  He would push up as high as he could and peek over the side of the crib.

He started crawling in July.  It started out as a worm crawl, but he could get around.  Now he crawls for real.  I love watching him because he seems so stiff.  He doesn't bend his arms very much when he takes a step.

He also got 2 of his bottom teeth toward the end of July.  We let him drink/suck from a glass and we heard something clanking.  Finally, we realized it was his teeth hitting the glass.

Beau has also started to pull himself up.  He pulls himself up on everything!  Anything he can get a hold on or can get his clammy hands to stick to.  He always pulls himself up on our ottoman and walks around the perimeter.

Can't you almost hear his diabolical laugh?!  Lucky for him he's only untied that once.

Now this is what I find every morning and after every nap when I go in to get him.  No more eyes peaking at me over the bumper.  Oh my, how fast he is growing.

Harrison Beach Week 2010

It is so hard to narrow down all the pictures!  Every family makes a slideshow put to music of pictures that they take throughout the year.  It's nice to see what everyone has been up to since the last beach trip.  Most slideshows are 4-5 minutes long.  This year Michelle was having a hard time editing her pictures and their slideshow was 15 minutes long!  Everyone was giving her a hard time.  I can now relate to her because I had such a hard time going through all the beach pictures and trying to edit.  I was going to do multiple posts, but I just want to get this monkey off my back.  I apologize up front if this is a '15 minute' post.  I tried to condense.

We had a great week with family.  It was a lot of fun introducing Beau to the beach.  He seemed to enjoy the water even though it was a little cold.

We played many games once the kids went to bed.  Our most played game is Wackee Six.  We played that game almost every night.
Michelle and Nate brought Bananagrams.  I think it was a hit and we'll have to add it to our list of games every year.

Andrew, Nate, Katy and I met in the game room every night when people started heading off to bed.  We called ourselves the Midnight Wii Club.  We played Super Mario Bros way into the night, well, I guess I should say morning.

The boys got the bright idea of jumping off the 3rd story balcony into the pool.  And they also got in big trouble.  I hope they won't repeat the offense next year.

We had an intense match of pool volleyball.  Here were the winners!  Notice, I unfortunately wasn't on the winning team this year.

One night we headed out to the beach to hunt crabs.  The guys went crazy and caught a bunch!  Some crabs fought back and drew blood.  They must not have realized we were going to let them go when we were done, that it was just all in good fun.
This year's book was Hunger Games.  Most people read the 2nd book, Catching Fire, in the series.  And the 3rd comes out on Tuesday!!  It's really good and I highly recommed it!

Michelle and Nate came up with the idea of playing around the world ping pong as their activity for the week.  I had never played before and I was surprised at how hard it is.  Andrew, Travis and Matt were the obvious winners.

One of our activities for the week was to play A Minute To Win It game called Face the Cookie.  Using only your face you have to move a cookie from your foreheard to your mouth.  We changed the rules a little bit so it worked better with our large group.  We had the guys compete at once and whoever got the cookie in their mouth first won.  Then the girls competed and then the kids.  There wasn't a kid winner, but I think they had fun trying.  The winner of the guys and the girls group then competed against each other so we could have an overall winner.  Matt won in the guy group and Katy won in the girls.
The overall winner was Katy!!  She did it in like 5 seconds.  She's a pro.

The next series of pictures are some of my favorites.  It accurately depicts these two boys' new nicknames and also shows what happens when Beau is too close to his cousin's face.

Johnny likes to suck his two fingers and uses it in lieu of a pacifier.  We started calling him Johnny Two Fingas- that's said in your best mob voice.  That spawned a mob nickname for Beau.  Can you guess what it might be?  Little Beau Blue (also said in your best mob voice).  We thought his was funny because he's not exactly little!

On to the other two pictures in the set.  It shows Beau eyeing his cousin and then pouncing on his unsuspecting victim.  Which Johnny should just know by now that if he's anywhere near Beau that he is going to get mauled!

Bye! We'll see you again next year!

Harrison Family Vacation 2010

Another year, another beach trip.  I usually don't take very many pictures at the beach.  I'm too busy relaxing and reading to take the time.  I think one year I only took 2 pictures.  This year I took hundreds!  I guess that's what happens when you have kids and it's his first time at the beach.    In other words, I'm going to have multiple posts of the beach vacay.

I'll start off with our family pics.  This year we added 3 baby boys to the family so we needed an updated family pic.  We decided to take the family pics ourselves instead of hiring a professional.  Last time we had professional pics done they didn't turn out so great.  We thought it was a waste of money for something no one liked.  This time we put my camera on a tripod and set the timer to take 6 at a time and away they snapped.  We thought if they didn't turn out then, oh well, at least we didn't have to pay for anything.  Luckily, for us I think we got some really good photos!!
