Harrison Beach Week 2010

It is so hard to narrow down all the pictures!  Every family makes a slideshow put to music of pictures that they take throughout the year.  It's nice to see what everyone has been up to since the last beach trip.  Most slideshows are 4-5 minutes long.  This year Michelle was having a hard time editing her pictures and their slideshow was 15 minutes long!  Everyone was giving her a hard time.  I can now relate to her because I had such a hard time going through all the beach pictures and trying to edit.  I was going to do multiple posts, but I just want to get this monkey off my back.  I apologize up front if this is a '15 minute' post.  I tried to condense.

We had a great week with family.  It was a lot of fun introducing Beau to the beach.  He seemed to enjoy the water even though it was a little cold.

We played many games once the kids went to bed.  Our most played game is Wackee Six.  We played that game almost every night.
Michelle and Nate brought Bananagrams.  I think it was a hit and we'll have to add it to our list of games every year.

Andrew, Nate, Katy and I met in the game room every night when people started heading off to bed.  We called ourselves the Midnight Wii Club.  We played Super Mario Bros way into the night, well, I guess I should say morning.

The boys got the bright idea of jumping off the 3rd story balcony into the pool.  And they also got in big trouble.  I hope they won't repeat the offense next year.

We had an intense match of pool volleyball.  Here were the winners!  Notice, I unfortunately wasn't on the winning team this year.

One night we headed out to the beach to hunt crabs.  The guys went crazy and caught a bunch!  Some crabs fought back and drew blood.  They must not have realized we were going to let them go when we were done, that it was just all in good fun.
This year's book was Hunger Games.  Most people read the 2nd book, Catching Fire, in the series.  And the 3rd comes out on Tuesday!!  It's really good and I highly recommed it!

Michelle and Nate came up with the idea of playing around the world ping pong as their activity for the week.  I had never played before and I was surprised at how hard it is.  Andrew, Travis and Matt were the obvious winners.

One of our activities for the week was to play A Minute To Win It game called Face the Cookie.  Using only your face you have to move a cookie from your foreheard to your mouth.  We changed the rules a little bit so it worked better with our large group.  We had the guys compete at once and whoever got the cookie in their mouth first won.  Then the girls competed and then the kids.  There wasn't a kid winner, but I think they had fun trying.  The winner of the guys and the girls group then competed against each other so we could have an overall winner.  Matt won in the guy group and Katy won in the girls.
The overall winner was Katy!!  She did it in like 5 seconds.  She's a pro.

The next series of pictures are some of my favorites.  It accurately depicts these two boys' new nicknames and also shows what happens when Beau is too close to his cousin's face.

Johnny likes to suck his two fingers and uses it in lieu of a pacifier.  We started calling him Johnny Two Fingas- that's said in your best mob voice.  That spawned a mob nickname for Beau.  Can you guess what it might be?  Little Beau Blue (also said in your best mob voice).  We thought his was funny because he's not exactly little!

On to the other two pictures in the set.  It shows Beau eyeing his cousin and then pouncing on his unsuspecting victim.  Which Johnny should just know by now that if he's anywhere near Beau that he is going to get mauled!

Bye! We'll see you again next year!

Harrison Family Vacation 2010

Another year, another beach trip.  I usually don't take very many pictures at the beach.  I'm too busy relaxing and reading to take the time.  I think one year I only took 2 pictures.  This year I took hundreds!  I guess that's what happens when you have kids and it's his first time at the beach.    In other words, I'm going to have multiple posts of the beach vacay.

I'll start off with our family pics.  This year we added 3 baby boys to the family so we needed an updated family pic.  We decided to take the family pics ourselves instead of hiring a professional.  Last time we had professional pics done they didn't turn out so great.  We thought it was a waste of money for something no one liked.  This time we put my camera on a tripod and set the timer to take 6 at a time and away they snapped.  We thought if they didn't turn out then, oh well, at least we didn't have to pay for anything.  Luckily, for us I think we got some really good photos!!
