Happy Anniversary, Part 2

All our festivities for our anniversary are over. We had a fun last few days surprising each other. Well, Travis always surprises me, but I was successfully able to surprise him. He surprised me with a a professional picture of Bridal Veil Falls during the winter. That's where and when he proposed so I thought it was a very thoughtful, special gift.

We both have a love for BBQ that is almost as strong as our love for each other. I was watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri and he just happened to be visiting a BBQ place that is a half hour away. I thought it would be fun to surprise Travis with a good BBQ lunch since he never seems to want any gifts. The place is called Gorilla BBQ and it's located in a railroad car turned BBQ shack. They open at noon and close when they run out of meat which I've heard is as early as 3! Since there is nowhere to sit and eat your food we took ours down the road and ate overlooking the beach. Unfortunately, it was a windy, cool day so we weren't able to go down on the beach.Yes, this is the owner and he has PORK RIBS tattooed on his knuckles! Photo courtesy of his website.

**Post edit: Oh yes, and the food was finger lickin' good!!

Happy Anniversary!

It was our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday. I feel like I should feel different, like how you think you should feel a year older and wiser for your birthday, but you don't. We like to say to each other we've been married for this long and nothing to show for it (in the kids department, that is)! Anyway, the 4th year is the year for flowers. My family has been very sweet to get us gifts for every anniversary. Our first year we were married they sent us a big box full of paper goods like paper plates, paper napkins, and notepads. Our second year we enjoyed gifts of cotton which were some nice sheets and beach towels. The third year they decided to give us both the traditional and modern gifts of a leather basketball (with our anniversary date on it) and crystal lovebirds. Since it's the year for flowers they gave us a fuchsia plant. I've been wanting to buy some kind of foliage for our balcony so it's nice to have something now. I just hope I can keep it alive.
More to come about our anniversary after this weekend...

Wicked, Again!

I know, I know, I've already seen Wicked when some friends and I made a trip to New York. However, before we moved to California I heard that Wicked was going to be playing in S.F. January through July and I just couldn't pass it up! My mom and sister really wanted to see it and since I had the worst seat possible in N.Y. (last row of the entire theater and farthest seat on the left) I was determined to buy a better seat. Luckily, I'm a proud user of an Amex credit card and us 'members' have the ability to buy tickets to shows that are not yet released to the public. This was my chance! Within minutes of the tickets being able to be purchased by Amex card users I had myself 3 tickets in the 5th row from the stage! I bought those tickets back in September and I have been counting down the days until April 18th. Unfortunately, my sister had to drop out of the trip because she hurt her back/shoulder really bad and would be in too much pain to sit through an 8 hour car ride (up and back) and 3 hour show. My Dad was all too willing to take her place and was pretty glad he did. He LOVED the show! It's not just a chick thing. And I LOVED being so close to the action. I could see spit while they spoke, dust from slamming books closed and strings hanging from the bottom of Galinda's dress (the strings bugged me by the way. I wanted to stop the show and jump up there and trim them). Trust me, if this show comes anywhere near you, please go! I would even see it again if Travis hadn't already threatened me not to even think about it ;) I'll just cross my fingers they'll make it into a movie and SOON!

First Our Bike, Now Our Garage Gate Opener...

What the HECK?!?!?!?! If you are regular readers of this thing then you may have seen the post awhile ago about Travis', Grandma's bike being stolen from our patio. Now we can say that our garage gate opener has been stolen. It was in our car, on the visor, down in the gated, locked garage of our complex. Somehow, someone got in there and busted our window open to get it. Why they would need the gate opener since THEY WERE ALREADY IN THE GARAGE, I don't know. Nothing else was taken from our car, but there was nothing valuable in there anyway. They wouldn't know that though because they didn't even unlock the car and go through it. They only busted our window for the sole purpose of stealing the controller. And the funny thing is, the night before ours was broken into, someone else's car was broken into and they only took the controller as well. If it's the same person, or people, and they already have a controller, why did they need another one? To pass them out to their other stealing friends perhaps? The unfortunate thing, now that these controllers are stolen and the criminals have access to our garage any time they wish, is our complex won't do a thing about it. They won't warn anyone, reissue new controllers or maybe even setup surveillance cameras (which I think every garage needs by the way). At this point I think it's safe to say that it's safer to park upstairs since criminals are targeting our garage and we are the third break in the last two weeks.

Monsters vs Aliens

My friend, Kara, and I decided to go see Monsters vs Aliens while our husbands were attending Priesthood session of General Conference. Yes, it's a kid's movie, and yes, it's a cartoon, but it was in 3D!

I've never seen an IMAX 3D movie and I thought the previews looked cute so here was my chance. Luckily, I was able to find another adult who wanted to see it as much as I did. I thought the 3D experience was pretty awesome and I will admit I may have jumped a few times at objects flying towards my head! Oh and yes, we were probably the only kid-less adults in the theater.
