I've been eyeing diaper bags for years now and I need to find one I love. I'm not going to lie, I want a trendy diaper bag. I want something that actually looks like a purse. The problem is they are hundreds of dollars and I have a husband that just won't allow me to spend that much money on something frivolous. I admit, whether you believe me or not, I probably couldn't spend hundreds of dollars on a diaper bag either. I love purses and I have a box full of them! I also bought most of them at Ross where they are cheap.
I did buy a diaper bag at Gap and I'm just not sure if I should keep it. I don't want something black because I feel like I can't wear it with something brown. And I don't want a brown bag because I feel like I can't wear it with something black. Even though Stacy & Clinton say they are both neutrals and you can wear any neutral together. I just can't seem to do it! Why do I care so much?!?! It's like a disease! So I need something that can go with black and brown outfits. I also need something that works for winter and summer, and something that I will like years down the road...am I looking for something that doesn't exist?

This is the one I got.
Bella Tunno Diaper Bag from Gap $70 marked down to $34.
I like the short shoulder strap, but when I put it on I feel like it looks huge!
The dark circles are navy blue so I feel comfortable wearing it with black and brown.

Mai Bossi Diaper Bag from Gap, $200.
I really like this bag except for the price.
It's a little on the dressy side and it's black, but I love the short strap option.

Storksak Emily Rococo Diaper Bag $198.
I think it's too summery and it's brown.

ok! I may have about the cutest website for you to look at. It's called Petunia pickle bottom.com. (no spaces, of course)
You will love it. I LOVE all of their diaper bags. They may be in your price range. I'm not sure what you're willing to spend but you have to at least check it out. They're adorable. My sis in law works at a baby store that sells these and I go in there just to drool over them. Good luck!
Ever heard of Skip Hop? They are on the smaller side, but they have straps that can fit around your stroller handles. I've been eyeing them since Emma was a baby, but never got one. I SO wish that I had! Plus the price was right - about $50.

I like the Ju-Ju-Be bags. My advice to you is get something with a zipper because you'll be doing a lot of bending over and you don't want to drop anything on that precious baby. A changing pad was a must for me. I actually have four diaper bags. I know it's little excessive! The first one was too small (just a little bigger than a large purse size)and had two straps and it constantly kept falling off my shoulder. the second was my love the Ju-Ju-Be Prepaired, it's designed for the mom of twins or the over packer. I love it! The best part about this bag is all the zipper compartments. We bought it because we were taking a new baby to Mexico and I didn't want anyone to be able to just reach into my bag. The second is the Oi Oi giraffe print, it's very cute in black! My favorite one I currently use is not a diaper bag at all. I bought it in Mexico and it is the best bag I've purchase for just a fraction of what I've spent on all the others. I can wash it over and over and it still loos the same! Most of my bags are black so this probably isn't any help, sorry. I think the one you have is really cute!!!
Not that IM experianced whatsoever, but wouldnt you want a bag with a longer strap so you dont have to take the strap off your shoulder everytime you need to pull out a bottle or a wipe like you would have to do with a shorter strap? I would think balancing a baby would be hectic enough. Im just saying...but remeber, I have no idea what Im talking about:) So back to topic...I chose bag #2
i actually like the bag you already purchased the best. i've looked at it before and thought about buying it, but i already have like 4 diaper bags so i just couldn't justify it. :) personally, i like to have fun prints on my diaper bags, because i tend to wear solid colors and prints on bags add something to my ensemble and they can usually go with any color.
i think the most important thing in a diaper bag, though, is functionality and organization and the best brands for this (in my opinion) are ju-ju-be and fleurville.
the one from ju-ju-be that is most "purse-like" is the beSpicey. here's the link: http://ju-ju-be.com/our_products.asp?prodid=bespicy. i think the "lotus lulluby" or the "groovy garden" prints are the cutest.
from fleurville the "re-run hana" or the "sling tote" are cute "purse-like" bags. here's a link: http://fleurville.com/shop. my favorite prints are "ogo print" or botanical azure."
if you want to come over and look at any of my diaper bags so you can see if you like any of them, give me a call!! :)
Shoot, there was one I saw on there a few weeks ago that I loved, but it's not there anymore! I'm boring and I just have the skip-hop bag in brown. I wanted to buy something so neutral that Ben wouldn't be embarrassed to carry it as well. So it's totally not cute, but practical. Just like me! Ha ha. I'm just glad to see that the one you bought was marked down. I bet Trav just loved that!
I never got a formal diaper bag. I just use a large purse. It's cuter than a lot of diaper bags and more affordable. But I've seen cute diaper bags at the Kate Spade Outlet
Those bags are cute and all, but make sure the one you buy is practical!! You need a BIG one girlfriend for real! you always need a whole extra outfit. At least 3 or 4 diapers and a whole thing of wipes becuase you NEVER want to run out of wipes! plus bottles, snacks (FOR YOU), a bink, not to mension your things, wallet, keys, cell phone. I mean you need toys in there too! So make sure their are pockets to organise and lots of space. love you! congrats on having a boy!!
I really like the bag with the dots and black straps.
Check into "Bumble Bags." They might have cute ones. Mine was very girly with flowers all over it but I loved the material and it was more of like a messenger bag and had so many great compartments. You can find them for 1/2 off on the internet too.
